               ***** Dr Goo 3 - The Rubblebum War *****
                  ********* By Josh Bender *********
                    ******************************
                    >>>>>Please read carefully<<<<

NOTE: It is recommended that a 600x800 desktop size is used while playing.
      If there is a message saying there isn't enough memory,
      try adjusting the monitor colours, or desktop size.
      Do not adjust old monitors to more than 256 colours, or the hardware
      may have some problems. Dr Goo 3 requires 256 colours.
      (Dr Goo 2 required 16 million colours)
      Required: 486 DX 66 with 16 MB RAM (but game may be slow)
      Recommended: Pentium 133MHz with 32 MB RAM

                           ****************

The Rubblebums are a vicious alien race, who have for centuries
been prevented from invading earth by the protection of
the Blue Galactic Stars. These stars contain a special stardust
that is lethal to the Rubblebums.
Finally, the Rubblebums have discovered a way
to invade earth - destroy the stars.
Using their Super Rubblebum Bubblegum gun, they have started to
shoot down these stars which are falling to earth.
Dr Goo has been asked to collect the fallen stars and
put them back in their place, thus preventing a
full-scale invasion of earth.

                           ****************

Use the arrow keys to control Dr Goo. Press Shift to jump, and Ctrl
to toggle switches (controls can be changed from the Game menu).
Collect all of the stars and find the exit to complete the stage.
If all stars are not collected the stage cannot be passed.
However, if a star has been collected once, it doesn't have to be
collected again even if it is still visible after restarting the stage.
If you find yourself at the end and cannot get the previous stars,
stand on the nearest teleport platform, hold Ctrl and press
jump. This will teleport Dr Goo to the start of the stage, so that
he can collect all of the missed stars.
For more help, refer to Help on the startup screen.

Tips:
* Press Esc during intro story to skip it.
* Press Esc during the game to abort the mission.
* At the beginning of the levels (except the 1st) there is a level
  code. Enter this code in Cheats to warp Dr Goo straight to this
  level. For more cheats send an email to: drgoo@drgoo.8m.com
* Press "S" during gameplay to save Dr Goo's current position, and
  "L" to load the previous position. This can be helpful if you have
  made quite a bit of progress. (The stages are very big!)
* Press X to self-destruct Dr Goo. This should be used if you're
  crazy or if he gets stuck after loading his poition incorrectly.
* Press Enter at any time to centre the screen. This is helpful if
  Dr Goo is near the edge of the screen.
* Press F5 to minimise game.
* The Security shield reactivates every 17, disregarding if it
  has already been activated. ie. there is a 17 second cycle. When the
  switch is activated, the cycle already may be half way through (or
  even more). But when it reactivates itself, that is the beginning
  of the cycle.
* To see more of the screen/playing area, remove the menu bar (F8)
* Press 1, 2, or 3 to make Dr Goo pull some funny expressions. These do not
  have any direct impact on the game, but they're fun anyway!

Avoid:
* shark-infested water
* Green strobe zappers
* Moving Skull walls
* Rolling radioactive barrels
* Security laser shields

Note:
> some of the platforms are "semi-transparent" (Dr Goo can jump
  through them from below) while others are "opaque"
  (Dr Goo can not jump through them, but he can stick to them by holding jump)

> occasionally when Dr Goo is close to the edge of the screen,
  ie. jumping out of the top/side of the screen,
  the screen will centre itself. (refer to Tips for scrolling the screen)

> by repeatedly pressing the expressions (refer to Tips) very fast, Dr Goo
  can freeze up. To fix this up, just press one of the other expressions.

> once a stage has been completed (eg. #1) and then level warp is used,
  try saving the position of Dr Goo at the start of the next stage to
  avoid loading his position incorrectly. This does not apply if you
  proceed straight onto the next designated stage (not using level warp).
  If you happen to load Dr Goo incorrectly, press X to activate
  self-destruct mode (refer to Tips).

Common Problems:
+ I can't see the whole screen!
~ Make sure the desktop size is 800x600 (check in Control Panel)

+ It says there isn't enough memory!
~ Dr Goo 3 requires 256 colours, so make sure this is set in
  Control Panel.

+ Dr Goo is stuck and I can't move him!
~ Try activating the self-destruct mode (press X) and restart the stage.
